How To Fade Acne Scars

Acne scars is a common skin problem. Acne scars appear in different forms, as "ice pick" or pitting scars, "depressed" crater-like scars, raised scars or discolorations on the skin. Acne scars in the past were treated by dermabrasion, chemical peel and excision with marginal improvement. Acne scars result from two types of tissue response to the inflammation of acne: (1) increased tissue formation, and (2) loss of tissue. Acne scars resulting from loss of tissue are more common than scars resulting from increased tissue formation. Acne scars are an unwanted reminder of a condition that can cause embarrassment and social isolation. Acne scars can give the skin an "old" look.

Scars

Scars from acne are caused by the damage from inflammatory lesions. Scars which are deep and disfiguring can sometimes be cut out by a plastic surgeon. Unsightly scars that appear on the face are usually the result of severe acne. There are over-the-counter creams that can gradually fade acne scars. It doesn't claim to completely rid your face of scars, but it will visibly fade them. It may be possible to fade acne scars at home if they are mild. Lemon juice has been a success in fading scars for many people.

Treatment

Treatment of acne can be divided into two basic levels, mild acne treatment and treatment for moderate to severe acne including nodules and cysts. Talk with your doctor about what treatment methods can help your acne. They can better discuss with you different treatments available for your facial condition. Treatments that work perfectly for one individual can have absolutely no impact on another.

Acne scars are the marks which are left after the acne is caused. Acne scars are generally treated using one or more of the following treatments; Dermabrasion, Laser Resurfacing, Chemical Peels, Punch Techniques, Subcision or Augmentation. Acne scars are difficult and expensive to treat, and it is unusual for the scars to be successfully removed completely. Acne scars last a lifetime and, for some people, are cosmetically significant, and a source of psychological stress.
