Find The Right Acne Medication

Acne medication is big business in the United States as well as the rest of the world. Over 90 percent of the world population today is affected by some sort of acne and most of them answer to certain acne medicines to attain a healthy looking skin and avoid much difficulty. Acne medication is very easily available and there are many types out there. Part of the problem with finding the right acne medication is that there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to acne. It is very important that a doctor is asked first on which antibiotics for acne medication is right for you.

Medication

Whatever the acne medication, they work on the same principle of attacking the different factors that actually lead to acne. Any acne medication with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid is useful for people with mild acne. The entire acne medication process with oral antibiotics begins with a high dosage which is gradually reduced as the acne resolves. In some cases dermatologists may combine more than one acne medication as part of treatment. In Asia, herbal medicines which have been used for centuries are now being studied scientifically.

Effective

Benzoyl peroxide is the most commonly used acne treatment because it is affordable, easily available, and nearly as effective as most prescription medication. However, tea tree oil has seen a recent revival due in part to study conducted in 1990 that proved it is as effective in treating acne as 5% benzoyl peroxide.

Acne medication is usually not the first line of defense when treating acne. The most popular prescription acne medication is Retin-A. Yet another widely available acne medication is in the form of oral antibiotics. Generally speaking this form of acne medication is prescribed for a time period of six months or less. The final kind of acne medication is traditional or home made remedies. While most people believe that this kind of acne medication is of no real use, studies have revealed that homemade acne remedies are sometimes very effective in curing simple cases of acne.
