Baby Acne What Can I Do About ItBaby acne is a common newborn condition. Baby acne is a problem of skin and defined as inflamed blackheads, red pimples and whiteheads. Baby acne typically stays localized to the face. Baby acne is associated by changes in the level of hormones, bad nutrition and greasy or oily skin. Baby acne often develops within the first three to four weeks after birth. Treatment The best treatment is usually none at all. Don't use lotions, oils or other treatments. Most lesions that develop will spontaneously resolve themselves within a four-month time frame, thus most newborn babies will not need treatment to clear up their acne. Condition If the irritation looks more rashy or scaly than pimply or it appears elsewhere on his body, your baby may have another condition, such as cradle cap or eczema. If the skin comes into contact with cloth laundered in harsh detergents, or becomes wet from spit-up saliva or milk, the condition may appear worse for several days. Too many daily washing will also make the condition worse. Smothering your baby's face with lotions makes the condition worse by clogging his/her pores. But try not to stress too much over this condition, baby acne is a natural maturing process for a newborn and it will not harm him or make him uncomfortable. Baby acne is a normal stage that is difficult to prevent. Baby acne maybe present from the birth, but typically appears at 3 to 4 weeks of age and last until your child is between 4 and 6 months old. Baby acne is not transmitted from one person to another person. Baby acne, if untreated, will go away, however, the most common treatment is a vinegar solution for baby acne.
